I really do wonder what other teams we're thinking in not getting in for Manny Rameriz. He is one of the best hitters in all of baseball. If I were the Giants I would have jumped out of my shoes to sign him to tip the scales in their favor. I understand that the economy is bad and some teams are scared. However, the Yankees are still spending money. George Steinbrenner once said you have to spend money to make money. Some of these other teams need to follow this advice.

the article never said that other teams weren't looking at him...
Yes, it's true that Ramirez is a great hitter, but he is also tempermental--the Terrel Owens of baseball. If he doesn't feel like playing well, he won't, and the whole team will be drug down with him. That's primarily why the Red Sox wanted to get rid of him in July. Hopefully Joe Torre knocked some sense into him this year, though.
Also, not all teams have money to spend on players such as Manny. The Yankees can afford to keep buying players as long as the executives can buy $350 seats at a new ballpark. I predict that with the economy the way it is, teh Yankees are going to have a hard time selling seats. (Which is unfortunate, because I'm a pretty big Yankee fan myself.)
