Phillies Recieve Boost from Unlikly Source

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/14/sports/baseball/14nlcs.html?_r=1&ref=sports&oref=slogin

This article featured the Phillies game 4 victory in the NLCS over the Dodgers. In this game the Dodgers got out to an early lead. However, the Phillies rallied late in the game on a Shane Victorino home-run. Later in the same inning, Matt Stairs, who the Phillies traded for on the trade deadline, hit a home-run that gave the Phillies the lead. With this win the Phillies took a comanding 3 games to 1 lead over the Dodgers. THe Phillies are now just one game away from the World Series.

The thing I like about this article is that Stairs is humbled by this expierience and is doing every thing he can to help his new team. This article only had to be a recap of the games action if you missed the game and wanted to catch up. However, the author went into good detail about significant details that have happenend to Stairs and this team.

I agree, this is a very good article. The NY Times doess a good job with sports reporting. Other news sources that report on every single game (AP, for instance) tend to write dry articles, especially when telling the minor details of the game. This article showed the game in a much more exciting format by describing what was happening instead of just telling it.

By the way, I've talked to many Yankee fans, and they've all said that they would support the Dodgers in the playoffs because of Joe Torre. Even though he left because of Steinbrenner, he is still a part of most Yankee fans. Oh, well. I guess now I have to root for the Rays, which is not easy to do after Boston made the second-biggest comeback in playoff history (down 7-0 in the 7th inning, they won 8-7 at home). There's sill a game 6.
