WARNING: BIG SPORTS FAN SHOULD ONLY READ THIS POST DUE TO EXCESSIVE SPORTS TALK. PERFECTLY OPEN TO RESPONCES ON COUNTER ARGUEMENTS
To start off, why are the baseball winter meetings being held in Las Vegas. I can remember only a couple of years ago when the NBA held their All-Star event. If memory serves something really bad happened their, oh yeah, an NFL cornerback by the name of Pacman Jones shot a kid while at a night club. I understand the NBA shouldnt have been responsible for that event, but this is what happens when you host a large event in a place called SIN city. Then I could go into a huge rant about the NFL can get away with anything, for intance Ray Lewis, but that's another arguement for another say and I'm getting way too off topic.
The Yankees
I am a huge yankees fan, one of the biggest fans their is. The longer that CC donest sign with the Yankees, the more likly it is he will go elsewhere, probably to his native state of California. If that happens a bunch of fans could go into a panic. I couldnt disagree more. Lets be honest for a second, is Sabathia worth 140 million for 6 years, i really dont. I would take him, but its not the end of the world. He doesnt deserve more money than Santana because he's not nearly as good. There is another route the yanks can try to take. If Sabathia goes to another team the first step will be to get 2, Teir 2 pitchers, preferably Derek Lowe and Oliver Perez. We should be able to sign them to 4 year deals. As good as Burnett could be I dont trust his health (we already screwed up with Pavano and we dont need to make the same mistake twice). The most important stage will then to get Teixiera to play first base. He is a great player and the Yankees need him more than most realize. Then comes a debateable step. I would, and I cringe like getting punched in the stomach when I say this, sign Manny Rameriz to a MAXIMUM of a 2 year deal. I think he would want to play for the Yanks being from New York, and he hates Boston so he could be motivated. That point is up for debate. If that happens we would have to deal Matsui for a pitching prospect. Perhaps Matsui to the Giants for Noah Lowry. I would like to do that.
The Mets
What is K-Rod thinking. Now i do think that ultimatly the Mets will sign him. They need a closer, they got big money, and K-Rod has big talent. But I'm hearing 2 years with an option for 3 years. K-Rod, show some guts. Get that 5 year deal thast you want. You have the power, the Mets know that you are much better thna any toher closer on the market; i.e. Kerry Wood or Brian Fuentes. Lets be honest, The Mets have much more problems than that. The last 2 years they have had epic collapes and missed the playoffs. Something needs to change. Some have suggest trading Wright, but I disagree, you can build a franchise around him. They need to go out and get a outfielder. There is 2 people who are pretty much the same person. Abreu and Raul Ibanez. Abreu is probably the better fit because he know the town better because he's been in New York as a Yankee the past couple of years. BTW, in my opinion, Omar Minaya needs to get fired, he's a shipwreck.
The Red Sox
Writing about them hurt, but I will try to be fair. As much as I hate this the Sox are starting to become the model franchise, like the late 90's Yankees. THe have a great blend of youth, Pedrioa and Ellsburry, to go along with veterans like Youkillis and Ortiz. Two spots they need to solidify is catcher, with their captain Veritck leaving. Not to mention with Bullpen, even with Paplebon at the back end. They should consider Fuentes to be the set-up man. I dont see Teixeira going to the Sox. They are already solid at first so they dont really have a use for him. If I am wrong and the Sox are super serious they better hope the Sabathia signs with the Yanks, because it will become an all-out bidding war for Teixeira if Sabathia signs with a west-coast team. The Yanks would then win that war. The Sox will probably be right where they left off last year and thats a Pennant contending team. They just need to get by the Rays.

Phillies Recieve Boost from Unlikly Source
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/14/sports/baseball/14nlcs.html?_r=1&ref=sports&oref=slogin
This article featured the Phillies game 4 victory in the NLCS over the Dodgers. In this game the Dodgers got out to an early lead. However, the Phillies rallied late in the game on a Shane Victorino home-run. Later in the same inning, Matt Stairs, who the Phillies traded for on the trade deadline, hit a home-run that gave the Phillies the lead. With this win the Phillies took a comanding 3 games to 1 lead over the Dodgers. THe Phillies are now just one game away from the World Series.
The thing I like about this article is that Stairs is humbled by this expierience and is doing every thing he can to help his new team. This article only had to be a recap of the games action if you missed the game and wanted to catch up. However, the author went into good detail about significant details that have happenend to Stairs and this team.

Presidents and Baseball
I'm not gonna lie....i dont much about politics. In case you dont know me, the only thing i know in this world is sports. When it comes to the presidential topics, i generally dont care, i dont see how anyone can do a bad job. However, over the last year i have started to notice how bad of a job President Bush has done as President. Actually, if i may say he stinks. To relate him to baseball he's a terrible pitcher. If i was manager i would have yanked him out in the 2nd inning (about 2002). He should have been stuck on the bench long before he gave up the 15 runs in the 4th inning (Iraq). We would be booing him off the field and probebly throwing peanuts at him. And you know there would be some crazy fan with the JOHN 3:16 sign. This was a terrible 8 year game from the moment it started.
At this moment in time we need to find the right relief pitcher. Do we go with the old veteran that is probably going to be just as bad as the starter (McCain). He'll just make the situation worse and most likly make this game unwinable. Or do we go with the kid with electric stuff (Obama). We have scene what he can do in the minors (the senate), but is he ready for the big time lights?
Personally I would go with the kid. He's got just dynomite "stuff" and i think he can lead us in the right direction. (Also if this is a national league game i have heard he is quite the hitter as well)

Colts Victory
Did anyone see the Colts game on October 5th, 2008? What a stunning piece of miracle that was. Colts score 21 points in the final 4 minutes of the game to come from 17 points down and defeat the Houston Texans. The first touchdown was a mythotical drive lead by
Peyton Manning to get us within 10 points at 27-17. After a failed onside kick the game would have been over if the Texans could get a first down. On third and long Texans back-up quarterback Sage Rosenfels sprinted for the first down marker, leaps, gets helocoptered, and fumbles. Middlelinebacker Gary Brackett scooped up the ball and took it 68 yards to the house. that made the score 27-24. On the next Houston drive Rosenfels again fumbled after a sack. Colts recover on the 19 yard line. Reggie Wayne would go on to make a curcis catch for the touchdown for the improvable victory. Realistically the Colts should be 0-4. Two terrific comefrom behind wins against the Vikings and Texans have prevented us from being in real trouble. Even though the defense came up big late with key turnover they need to stop the better if we are to catch the Titans. Next week we Ravens at home. LETS GO COLTS!!!
